In 1997, in an endeavour to create something
different, the District Council of Peterborough in conjunction with a man by the
name of Colin Campbell came up with the idea of having scale model steam train
placed on the Terowie entrance to the town. From that another three were made
and placed at the other entrances of the town.
Colin is a "retired" blacksmith who learnt his trade in England. He
is very gifted and talented man who over a period of 3 years hand made the four
models that are on display at each of the town entrances at a cost of $10,000.
He was also responsible for the two models that are in Terowie and another at
the entrance to the Peterborough Caravan Park.
Colin lives at 40 Victoria Street and is open to the public most days except for
the mornings of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. He will show you his workshop
and his display of works of art he has manufactured over the years.
